Norma Timoney is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon in London.

Norma Timoney is a consultant cleft and plastic surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital. She is the former lead of the paediatric plastic surgery department at Evelina London Children’s Hospital. (2010-2022) She was appointed to the South Thames Regional Cleft Lip and Palate Service in 2005. As well as this, she is on the GMC specialist register for plastic surgeons. Ms Timoney is a member of the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS). She is also a member of the Craniofacial Society of Great Britain and Ireland (CFSGBI).

 

Her areas of clinical expertise in children include all aspects of cleft lip and palate, ear reconstruction, hand surgery, also facial paralysis.
For adults her areas of expertise relate to the face, including nose correction (rhinoplasty), ear reconstruction or adjustment of ear position (pinnaplasty)
She also has a medico legal reporting practice focusing on soft tissue injury.

 

She is a past chair of the Cleft Lip and Palate Interface Training Group at the Royal College of Surgeons (2018-2021). This involves supervision of, as well as direct training of, fellows from the three interface specialties of plastic surgery, maxillofacial surgery and ENT surgery. She was a member of the Plastic Surgery Specialist Advisory Committee on training (2016-2021). From 2013-2014 she was programme director for Pan London Plastic Surgery specialist training.

 

She is the current trustee of the charity Facing the World and has been actively involved in overseas charitable work since 2007.

 

In 1992, Ms Timoney was awarded MBChB by the University of Bristol Medical School, general FRCS by the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1995, and specialist FRCS in Plastic Surgery in 2001. As well as this, she completed a fellowship year in paediatric plastic surgery at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and higher plastic surgery training in Birmingham. Ms Timoney also holds a BA BDent Sc from the University of Dublin, Trinity College. She also achieved an FDSRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
